Jesus gives a simple command in John 8 but so hard to follow “Go and sin no more.” How can a person possible do that? Matthew 3 tells us exactly how we can accomplish such a difficult task: “Repent of your sins and turn to God”. Some people think that repentance is mostly about feelings, especially feeling sorry for your sin. It is wonderful to feel sorry about your sin, but repent isn’t a “feelings” word. It is an action word. Repentance speaks of a change of direction, not a sorrow in the heart.
Christians are just human beings which means we sin, just like anyone else and we make mistakes, but the difference between a Christian and an unbeliever is that a Christian will be filled with the Holy Spirit and the Spirit of God will change us so we aren’t happy about sinning and will hate sinning every time we slip up. The Holy Spirit will convict us from our sins and we will try our best not to remain in that path of unfaithfulness anymore. Jesus knows we will always be sinners, but at the same time He wants us to stop living an unrepentant sinful life.

Romans 7:25I myself in my mind am a slave to God’s law, but in my sinful nature a slave to the law of sin
Psalm 51:5For I was born a sinner—yes, from the moment my mother conceived me.
Numbers 15:39When you see the tassels, you will remember and obey all the commands of the Lord instead of following your own desires and defiling yourselves, as you are prone to do.

Don’t let anyone tell you Christians don’t sin. It’s ridiculous to put such a heavy burden over anyone’s shoulder when God knows fully well we will always sin and that we will slip up every now and then. All the mistakes of our past only makes us stronger. God wants us to use our failures in a good way, to use them as a foundation for great victory in the LORD. We are sinners, yes, we are, and we will always be. However, once we accept Christ into our lives, if we truly accept Him into our lives, He will transform us. We will want to ask for forgiveness every time we slip up and seek to follow in His footsteps. We will always fall short of being sinless, but as long as you acknowledge the Lord and seek His forgiveness and try your best to stop living in sin, you will be saved. Embrace the Lord and the change that comes with it.
The other day I was going through some blogs and one person wrote “I’m gay but I’m a Christian, which means Jesus will forgive my sins.” I don’t think that person, as well as many others, understand how Christianity works. To be a Christian means you are willing to follow Christ. Jesus died a horrible death so you have a chance to be saved but just believing in Jesus doesn’t save you. As James 2:19 tells us, “You say you have faith, for you believe that there is one God. Good for you! Even the demons believe this, and they tremble in terror." Remember when Jesus said "Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say" in Luke 6? Just because you have faith in Him doesn’t mean He will welcome you in Heaven. Just because you have been doing amazing works on this Earth means nothing if you don’t follow His Word. Works are the result of faith, for works alone mean nothing. The Devil isn’t opposed to you being a good and kind person, he is opposed to you following Jesus. You have to live your life according to God’s Word. Believing in Jesus and living your life according to His rules and regulations are two completely separate things. We are sinners, yes, but we must also acknowledge our sins and seek repentance for them, we can’t just keep living our lives sinning like it’s something normal.
What are the sins the Bible warn us about? There are many passages that show us just many sins the people of the world today don’t have a problem with, and here’s a few of them:
Colossians 3:5-10So put to death the sinful, earthly things lurking within you. Have nothing to do with sexual immorality, impurity, lust, and evil desires. Don’t be greedy, for a greedy person is an idolater, worshiping the things of this world. Because of these sins, the anger of God is coming. You used to do these things when your life was still part of this world. But now is the time to get rid of anger, rage, malicious behavior, slander, and dirty language. Don’t lie to each other, for you have stripped off your old sinful nature and all its wicked deeds. Put on your new nature, and be renewed as you learn to know your Creator and become like him.

Galatians 5:19-21When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God.

1 Corinthians 6:9-10Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived! The sexually immoral, idolaters, adulterers, passive homosexual partners, practicing homosexuals, thieves, the greedy, drunkards, the verbally abusive, and swindlers will not inherit the kingdom of God.

If you are a Christian, and I mean a TRUE Christian, it means you are willing to stop following your heart and your mind and you trust God and His Word. The heart is “the most deceitful of all things, and desperately wicked" as we are told in Jeremiah 17. People tend to say to one another to “follow your heart” but that is an absolutely wicked thing to say because our hearts are wicked by nature. Our hearts and minds should only be focused on God and nothing/no one else. Proverbs 3:5 tells us to “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding." Our understanding of the world and the feelings we have are generally wrong because sin deforms our views of how things are supposed to be. God is sinless, therefore God’s Word should always be used as our moral compass in life.
I hear people say “it’s my life and I’ll love whomever I choose” and it’s sad to see how lost people are sometimes. Our bodies belong to God as 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 tells us “Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body." If you have accepted Christ into your life that means you accept the fact you don’t get to do whatever you want with your body because you now realize your body belongs to God.
Marriage is a sacred commitment established by God Himself for a man and a woman. Remember what Paul wrote in Hebrews 13 ”Honor marriage, and guard the sacredness of sexual intimacy between wife and husband." And even Jesus Himself had something to  say about the sanctity of marriage between a man and a woman in Matthew 19:4-6 “Haven’t you read in your Bible that the Creator originally made man and woman for each other, male and female? And because of this, a man leaves father and mother and is firmly bonded to his wife, becoming one flesh—no longer two bodies but one. Because God created this organic union of the two sexes, no one should desecrate his art by cutting them apart.” Marriage, and by extension dating, is meant for men and women, not man and man or woman and woman.
People often say “I was born this way” and you are absolutely right! Every single one of us were born sinners! We will forever be sinners, sinners from birth until death. That’s why God in His great mercy has given us Jesus so our sins can be absolved if we accept Him in our lives and also why He has given us the Bible so we know how to live our lives. So yes, you were born “that way” indeed and that’s why you need to accept Jesus into your life so you have the strength to fight your sinful behavior. Your homosexual partner wasn’t a gift from God, it was a “gift” from Satan and following that path means you have failed the test of faith described in 2 Corinthians 13:5.
Doesn’t the Bible tells us we can do anything we want? As a matter of fact, yes, it does! We can do anything that pleases us, but there is a catch as we know from Ecclesiastes 11:9 ”Rejoice, young man, during your childhood, and let your heart be pleasant during the days of young manhood. And follow the impulses of your heart and the desires of your eyes. Yet know that God will bring you to judgment for all these things." You can do whatever pleases you but God will judge you for it. It’s a little thing called free will! God isn’t forcing you to love Him or accept Him in your life. How could you say you loved God if He simply forced you to do it? He gives you a choice to love Him or love the world. You can do whatever you want in this life, but don’t expect to spend eternity in Heaven if you aren’t willing to follow Him. We are free to choose between Heaven or Hell.
A person can’t go to Heaven if they embrace any sin, because our transgressions (that is, to willfully sin against God) draw us away from God. So, yes, you were born that “way” but God is letting you decide whether you will want to go against your very own nature and follow His perfect rules and regulations and go to Heaven, or if you want to go follow your heart and go to Hell. The choice is always up to us; we can choose to follow God or choose our sinful nature.

Romans 8:6-8So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace. For the sinful nature is always hostile to God. It never did obey God’s laws, and it never will. That’s why those who are still under the control of their sinful nature can never please God.

Is not about “converting” gay people into straight people. It’s about “transforming” a sinner into a follower of Christ. Sin deforms us while Christ can transform us. Homosexuality is a sin like any other, no worse nor any better than any sin, which means if you lie, or you take your horoscope seriously, or use curse words when speaking with others, or have outbursts of anger, or if you are jealous, or if you follow any other religion besides Christianity, or if you are selfish, or if you are a drunk, or if you use drugs, or if you cheat on your spouse, or if you have pre-marital sex, or if you get an abortion, or if you are a racist, and so on, you are committing a sin of equal proportion to any homosexual person. I’m not only against homosexuality, I’m against all sins because they are all equally bad. Remember what James 2:10 tells us “For the person who keeps all of the laws except one is as guilty as a person who has broken all of God’s laws." We must all choose a path that lead us to follow God rather than sin because following sin means we haven’t accepted God in our hearts. God loves every single person, including sinners, and all we need to do is accept Christ as our savior and repent for our sins to be saved, and that’s why no human can ever be hateful towards another person, because anyone can become your brother and sister in Christ if they accept to follow Jesus at some point in their lives, no matter how late in life they accept Him, something Jesus explained when He spoke the parable in Matthew 20:1-16. So please, choose to follow Christ and His teachings. It’s never too late to let Christ transform you into a new person. Remember that your thoughts, as well as everyone else’s, have been corrupted by sin, and that is why it’s so important to always be living according to the Bible.
Didn’t Jesus tell us not to judge others? Yes, He did:

Matthew 7:1-2“Do not judge others, and you will not be judged. For you will be treated as you treat others. The standard you use in judging is the standard by which you will be judged.

Among those who seem to know nothing of the Bible, this is the verse that seems to be most popular. Yet most the people who quote this verse don’t understand what Jesus said. They seem to think (or hope) that Jesus commanded a universal acceptance of any lifestyle or teaching. Just a little later in this same sermon (Matthew 7:15-16), Jesus commanded us to know ourselves and others by the fruit of their life, and some sort of assessment is necessary for that. The Christian is called to show unconditional love, but the Christian is not called to unconditional approval. So while this does not prohibit examining the lives of others, it certainly prohibits doing it in the spirit it is often done. Jesus did not prohibit the judgment of others. He only requires that our judgment be completely fair, and that we only judge others by a standard we would also like to be judged by. When our judgment in regard to others is wrong, it is often not because we judge according to a standard, but because we are hypocritical in the application of that standard - we ignore the standard in our own life. It is common to judge others by one standard and ourselves by another standard - being far more generous to ourselves than others. It’s best to leave the judgment to the One that will always be fair in His measure at the End:

John 12:47-48I will not judge those who hear me but don’t obey me, for I have come to save the world and not to judge it. But all who reject me and my message will be judged on the day of judgment by the truth I have spoken.

How about loving others? Aren’t we to show love to others as Jesus told us in Matthew 22? Absolutely! Fun fact about that passage in Matthew 22 worth mentioning: the Rabbis at that time had a list of 613 commandments of the law; and distinguished them into the greater and lesser commandments. These “lesser” commandments were usually neglected or violated with little or no guilt. By asking our Lord “which is the most important commandment in the law of Moses?" the Pharisees were hoping Jesus would choose only a few of these 613 different commandments, as it was usual for Rabbis to do, hence the Pharisees would be able to hypocritically tell the people that Jesus was teaching to neglect certain areas of the law. Perfectly understanding the essence of the law, Jesus had no difficulty answering that question. Instead of promoting one command over another, Jesus defined the law in its core principles: love the LORD with everything you have, and you must also love your neighbor as yourself. To love God mean we must respect all aspects of His Word, not just some parts. God is love and we must love others as God loves us, which includes to show love towards sinners and believers alike because God makes no distinction between the two. God loves sinners as much as He loves Christians and He hopes people choose Him rather than sin; He hopes people will choose Heaven rather than Hell. If God loves us all, Christians have no right to hate on anyone because of their sins, after all we’re all sinners.
It’s our jobs as Christians to educate people on the ways of the Lord and never to condone a sinful lifestyle. We are here to try leading the lost souls towards a good everlasting life in Jesus Christ.  A true Christian is trying to open the eyes of a sinner to that fact the other person is following a sinful life rather than a Godly life. But please, if you are going to talk to someone about their sin, be kind and do it out love. A Christian is a representative of Jesus Christ, therefore be kind in everything you do and lead by example. Approach sinners with kindness and respect, rather than try to be all up on their faces and cursing them out for having sinned, after all please remember that Christians are sinners too - the whole world is - and the only difference is that we have accepted Jesus Christ into our lives and we should be trying our best to live according to His perfect rules and regulations. So, be kind to anyone that lives an unrepentant lifestyle and gently try to guide them towards the Lord.
Going to church every Sunday won’t save you. Being baptized won’t save you. Donating a ton of money won’t save you. Working really hard to make this world a better place won’t save you - remember, works without faith means nothing. The only way to be saved is by acknowledging Jesus as your Savior and asking forgiveness for your sins and to stop living an unrepentant sinful life by following God’s Word. God showed us in 2 Chronicles that if humans were to “humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins”. Sin blinds us to our need for God. Stop trying to be self-sufficient in this life, be dependant on the Lord and come to Him for help and guidance.
We must be aware of the Devil at all times for he will try to lie to you and try to convince you certain sins that are in the Bible are wrong. The Bible tells us in 2 Corinthians 11 that the Devil and other demons can even masquerade as angels of the light: “But I am not surprised! Even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. So it is no wonder that his servants also disguise themselves as servants of righteousness.” During the time Jesus was fasting for 40 days (Matthew 4 and Luke 4) the Devil tempted the Lord, and with it we learned that the Devil can also quote Scripture, although taking passages out of context to fit his purpose. So of course there’s going to be religions that will preach tolerance towards sinful behavior and tolerance towards everything that the Bible tells us not to have anything to do with. Many religious leaders have been fooled by the Enemy of Man and they can’t even see it, but what’s really tragic is the fact that so many people choose to follow certain charismatic religious leaders rather than to follow Jesus. Do not trust anyone’s preaching if they aren’t preaching sound doctrine from the Bible. The Word of God is perfect and flawless. The Word of God is complete and done.
If I see someone drowning I’m not gonna clap and encourage that person to keep on sinking, instead I’m gonna throw them a rope and hope they grab on to it for dear life. That rope is God’s Word because salvation is within. I will always throw that rope and hope the other person will grab on to it and chose life. I will never stand idle and just watch as someone drowns.
I can only hope all sinners, and people that support any kind of sinful behavior, can come to realize one day that our views of the world will always be wrong because of how sin deforms us. God in His infinite mercy has blessed us with the Bible so we can know what is truly good and also what isn’t. We just have to be willing to accept His Word as the way to break free from the grasps of sin so we may start to live a good and humble life.
Jesus takes us as we are, sinful immoral creatures, but once we accept Christ into our lives we are called to change because the Holy Spirit convict us of our sins and we will want to change from our unrepentant life to a new life where we strive to be better than before. That change will show in our lives, visible for the whole world to see the power of God at work in us.

Matthew 3:8Prove by the way you live that you have repented of your sins and turned to God.

Remember what our Lord Jesus Christ said in Luke 13 ”And you will perish, too, unless you repent of your sins and turn to God." Don’t delay. Repent and turn to God while there’s still time.

If you live in Australia you would have heard of the devastating bushfires happening in NSW. Bushfires leave native animals injured, homeless, orphaned, hungry and disorientated. So if you have any spare change please consider donating to WIRES… and also, who doesn’t love koala’s?
